How do I transcribe audio files?

Click on ‘Choose File’ to begin. Select your audio file and it will be uploaded to VEED. Then click on the Subtitles tool on the left menu. You can upload an MP3 file, WAV, and other popular audio file types. Click on ‘Auto Transcribe’ and VEED will transcribe the audio or speech to text for you. Then click on Options and download the TXT, VTT, or SRT file!

Can I use the auto transcription on videos?

Absolutely! Unlike other online transcription tools, VEED lets you transcribe both audio and video to text. Upload your video file to VEED and our software will transcribe the original audio that was recorded in your video.

Can I download both the TXT file and the video with the subtitles?

Yes, you can! When you’re done downloading the TXT, VTT, or SRT file, click on ‘Export’ to download the video with the subtitles on it. Your video will be exported as an MP4 file.

How do I edit the transcript?

Before downloading the transcription file, you have the option to edit the text. Depending on how the speech or recording is spaced out through the video, VEED will separate the transcriptions into different boxes. Just click on each box and start typing or editing the text.

Can I hard code subtitles to a video?

Yes—and it’s super easy to do! Just click on ‘Burn Subtitles’ and the text will be hard-coded to the video. Hard coding subtitles mean that your video will display the text whether the viewer activates the Subtitles option or not.

Auto Transcribe

Click on ‘Subtitles’ from the left menu and select ‘Auto Transcribe’. Select a language and click ‘Start’. VEED will automatically transcribe your file. Make changes to the transcription if needed.

Download the Text File

While on the Subtitles page, click on ‘Options’ then hit the download icon. You’re done! Make sure to select the format that you prefer. You can download a TXT, VTT, or an SRT file.
